Postulations on the ride.

Do you remember back a blog or two when I invented, or rather, conceptualized the Accommodator? You know, the cycle seat that accommodated lips and ball so they wouldn't hurt on long cycle tours?  Anyway, while riding along on this cycle trip, Bill detected a flaw in the Accommodator.  He became concerned that a man's testicles might swell within the Accommodator and therefore, the man (Bill) would then have to take the bike seat off after a long ride and carry it with him until the swelling subsided.  I believe he had determined a definite flaw in the conceptualization and so, I set to work revising the concept.

Therefore, I created a Clapper Trapper Quick Release mechanism that allowed the rider to open the trap door and slide out of  the seat, thereby eliminating the need to take the seat off and carry it after a long ride.  So, with that design difficulty out of the way, I was free to carry on thinking of the answers to other questions that arose during the week long cycle ride.

Question #1. Why is there a preponderance of Palm Bay cans in the ditch alongside the road and why are they newer cans and not squashed cans?

Postulations
  • Palm Bay is an alcoholic beverage consumed by the majority of the population
  • Palm Bay is drank by people who litter
  • Palm Bay is drank by those who drink and drive
  • Palm Bay has a good marketing campaign
  • Palm Bay is thrown out the window to destroy the evidence of drinking and driving
  • The selection in the liquor stores in rural areas is limited, but Palm Bay has been cleverly marketed and therefore, part of the minimal selection available
  • Palm Bay is a new drink on the market
  • Palm Bay is drank by women who do not feel the need to crush the cans when they have finished consuming the beverage
  • Palm Bay tastes good

Theory: Palm Bay is a delicious new alcoholic beverage marketed in rural areas to women who drink and drive. They litter to destroy the evidence.  Palm Bay in more evident in the ditches alongside the road because the cans are new and not crushed.

Question #2
Why do the bears like to poop on the road?

Postulations
  • They are marking their territory
  • They like the warmth of the road
  • They don't know it is the side of the road
  • They are exhibitionists
  • Bears like to show off the seeds and pits in their scat
  • Bears like to count the seeds and pits
  • There is a Bear seed and pit contest and it is easier for the rangers or judges to count the seeds and pits on the road, rather than in the forest
Theory:  undeveloped

Question #3
Why is there more road kill in the Okanagan than in the Kootenays?

Postulations
  • there is a greater population of people in the Okanagan and therefore more cars to hit animals
  • There are fewer animals in the Kootenays
  • Kootenay animals are smarter than Okanagan animals
  • Kootenay animals have been taught to look left, then right before crossing the road
  • Okanagan animals like the warmth of the highway and are therefore at greater risk of being hit while sunbathing
  • Okanagan animals play chicken more often and lose
Theory:  Undeveloped

It is amazing how the mind can puzzle out answers to such complex questions while cycling.  Clearly, we are still working on some of the major questions posed along the route.
